Tamiya Toyota Landcruiser with Sport Options

Got this kit in at work and had to have it. My dad had one of these growing up and it has always been one of my favorite cars since. I originally purchased it to build the body only and put it on a losi micro crawler but after looking at the kit I changed my mind and had to build it for my shelf.

The kit is awesome as any tamiya kit is. The body looks perfect with the exception of a few mold lines and imperfections that will be sanded away.

The tires included with the kit look so great, no real mold lines to speak of and amazing detail in the tread and side walls. I wish tamiya would sell these individually, I could think of quite a few kits that would look awesome with an aggressive sized tire such as this.

The "sport accessories" the kit comes with are molded in a flat chrome finish, being the first time I had ever seen this it was really cool, too bad I'm painting them black.

Thought it was interesting that the hood comes molded in clear plastic. I doubt it will be a problem with color after a few primer coats but I can't help but think of some crazy ideas to show engine detail with the hood on the car.

Looking forward to this build, can't wait to get started. Stay tuned for updates on my build!

Almost 2 years later and i'm finally getting started on the kit. My dad had one of these cars in the 40th anniversary trim so i will be building a replica of his.

I started on the chassis assemblies first other than the brakes everything was sprayed with a semi gloss black. I though it was really cool that the kit included actual springs and not plastic ones.

Installed the wheels into the tires, i love the way they look. Tamiya outdid themselves with the details on the tires.
I added a wash with tamiya gloss black thinned out heavily to add depth to the lug nuts and beadlock bolts.

 Chassis complete and assembled.
The kit includes an ARB style off road bumper which is really cool but its not what my dads vehicle had installed on it. So i decided to mod the kit bumper to look closer to the OEM option.

Its not a dead on match to the oem bumper but it looks a lot closer and beter in my opinion.
I was able to use my new airbrush setup for the first time on this build, still getting used to it but i have the body in primer now.
